The Hoover Dam was built in a time of struggle and hardships in American History. During the Depression of the 1920’s, the idea was born with the intention of bringing water and electricity to millions in the Southwest. At the time, building something of such tremendous size seemed impossible, and the planning carried on warily for years. Many were doubtful, since this had never been done before on such a large scale, and the Colorado River was wild and daunting as a workplace for thousands of untrained, unprotected men.
Not only did the Dam innovate water-powered technology in the early 20th century, but offered thousands of jobs for those in need during tough economical times. The story of the Hoover Dam is one like any, with its own problems and difficulties, but the outcome is one which still effects us today, good or bad is up to you.
